“You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You.” Isaiah 26:3
We can’t get very far in our quest to know God without needing His peace. Jesus, the Prince of Peace, said that the people who go out of their way to make peace will be blessed and shall be called the children of God. Obviously, we can’t find the peace Jesus is referring to outside of God. Only the Lord can teach us how to be at peace with everyone, to be at peace even with conflict around us on every side, or teach us how to impart peace to others.
We cannot be at peace when we are trying to change things that we cannot change. Neither can we be at peace when we are trying to change people we cannot change. Peace comes when we understand that God is in control and there is a purpose and a season for everything.
True peace resides in our lives only when we understand and respect God’s timing, sovereignty, and omniscience. Peace comes when we can say, believe, and accept that there are some things not for this season. It comes when we accept and believe that whatever happens, God is always right. For better or worse, God is right.
